Mutton Bustin

Last year John thought it would be fun to enter Sydney in the mutton busting, but we were concerned with how she would like it, so we just took her to watch instead. She thought it looked like a whole bunch of county fair fun, and has been looking forward to it all year. Last night she took her ride. She said at first when she wrapped her leg around the sheep, she felt something wet, and was a little nervous. She rode sideways most of the time, but held on great! The sheep stepped on her arm and she has some good scratches, of which she is very proud. What a girl! I couldn't get it on video very well, but take my word for it, she did great!

Our Dating . .. . ....

We went on our Valentines date yesterday, and John planned it. (Bonus point #1). He didn't want to do the same old movie, dinner, etc. (Bonus point #2). So we tried cross country skiing...

Don't we look great. Notice how I have to pull John along. Well, obviously I forgot my camera, but oh well you get the point. Actually we had skis we rented from Snow College and our boots kept falling out of the ski. But I did tell John (much to both our surprise) that I enjoyed it, and it would be fun to do again. John was happy with so much progress on our date! Then we went to Snow College's gym and played raquetball.

As you can tell I am a wicked player and John was running all over the court. I haven't played in over 20 years and only a few times with my sister when we were kids before that. So needless to say John beat me pretty soundly. We played to 11 and I started at 9, and even with that cheating only won one game. Oh well, by the end at least John was breathing hard too because I actually hit a few balls back. It was a blast!! We have decided when we are rich, we are going to build a raquetball court in our house. I got more exercise on that date than I have in a long time. (Bonus point #3, and very sad point #1). Anyway, it was a wonderful time, and I am so glad I married a man who is everything I thought he was, and MORE! I LOVE LOVE LOVE him!

Cinderella broke her what?

The week started out innocently enough. Sydney's friend Leah spent the weekend at our house while her parents had a getaway. They planned a wonderful ball. They decorated the basement, picked out clothes for them, and John and I. Sent us an invitation, got the music, etc. We had a wonderful time at the ball. It really was great to see all of these cute decorations they had made, and the planning that went into this dance.

A few days later Sydney had a birthday party for a friend to go to. They were ice skating, and Sydney could not wait. She has been wanting to ice skate for a long time. I told her she would fall quite a few times, but it wouldn't hurt! The mom, Suzie, called me after the party had started, and said Sydney fell, and might have hurt her ankle. I said OK and asked John to go pick her up. After an hour they still weren't back, and no one was answering their phones there, and I was starting to cry because I am a woman, and I am emotional. Anyway, they finally came home and John said he thought she had broken her leg. Well, the rest of this long story short is we spent the night in the ER. She has a spiral break on her tibia. They didn't dare cast it there because they wanted us to see an orthepedic surgeon first. She is in a full leg cast for 4 weeks, and then hopefully a walking cast for another few weeks.

She is a total trooper. She is handling it like a champ. So much I could learn from her. We are now both waiting for the day we can have a ball again, and Cinderella is back up dancing.
